Creating Scatterplot Charts and Word Clouds with Data Views

Overview

Two numeric variables in a Data View can be used as the basis for a scatterplot chart.  A single text variable can be used to create a word cloud.Data views can be used to create scatterplot charts based on two numeric variables.

Create a Scatterplot Chart

  1. Create a data view containing two numeric variables
  2. Click on the scatterplot chart icon next to either variable's name in the data view header row
  3. Save your newly created scatterplot

Create a Word Cloud

  1. Create a data view containing one text variable
  2. Click on the word cloud icon next to the variable's name in the data view header row (A)
  3. Save your word cloud

Change Word Cloud Settings

  1. Adjust the title on the Design tab
  2. Turn interactivity on or off on the Interactivity tab
  3. Turn on the display of filter footnotes and details on the Display tab

Share Word Clouds

  1. Save the word cloud
  2. Click on Share
  3. Select Show URL to get a URL that you can copy/paste to send to other MarketSight users
  4. Select Add to Key Findings to share this word cloud with clients for free (click here for more information on Key Findings)

Export Word Clouds

  1. Click Export
  2. Choose the desired template (click here for more information on PowerPoint templates)

Word Cloud "Stop Words"

Stop words are common words or phrases that will not be displayed in a word cloud. These can be turned on or off as a whole, but not individually. A list of stop words used in MarketSight can be located here.
