Chart Interactivity
Overview
Because all charts are based on underlying crosstabs, charts automatically assume the same interactivity settings as their parent crosstab. When a crosstab has multiple row or column variables, or includes a filter variable, it can become interactive, allowing other users to adjust the data it displays. By default, interactive controls will automatically appear when a crosstab has more than one row or column variable, or contains a filter variable. Charts made from an interactive crosstab will also be interactive.
Adjust Chart Interactivity
- Open the chart by clicking on its name
- Click the Edit button in the gray toolbar (classic), select the Interactivity tab, or
- Edit the chart and open the Visualize > Interactive area (new)
- Turn chart interactivity on or off with the checkboxes
- Adjust the default selection for the controls as needed
Interactivity Options
| Option | Description |

| Row Variable Interactivity | If your crosstab contains more than one row variable, you can turn interactivity on or off with this checkbox. If it is selected, a dropdown will appear at the top of the crosstab enabling users to change the variables displayed in the crosstab. |
| Row Variable Label | Edit the displayed text for the interactive dropdown. It is "Select a Row Variable" by default. |
| Column Variable Interactivity | If your crosstab contains more than column row variable, you can turn interactivity on or off with this checkbox. If it is selected, a dropdown will appear at the top of the crosstab enabling users to change the variables displayed in the crosstab. |
| Column Variable Label | Edit the displayed text for the interactive dropdown. It is "Select a Column Variable" by default. |
| Filter Interactivity | If your crosstab contains one or more filter variables, you can turn interactivity on or off with this checkbox. If it is selected, a dropdown will appear at the top of the crosstab enabling users to change the filters used in the crosstab. |
| Filter Label | Edit the displayed text for the interactive dropdown. It is "Filter" by default. |
| Separate dropdowns | Check this option to show each filter variable in an individual dropdown. |
