MarketSight - Variable Categorization
Overview
Categories are the way to organize variables in your dataset, making them easier to find and use when creating new items in MarketSight. By default, MarketSight places all uploaded variables into an "Uncategorized" grouping.
Use Categories on the Variables Page
- Display or hide the variables within a category by clicking on the small arrow to the left of the category name (A)
- Edit the category name if desired by clicking directly on it (A)
- Categorize any selected variables by selecting the variable, then clicking on Categorize (B)
- Sort by clicking on the category column or display only selected categories by clicking on the arrow (C)
- View variables listed by category or date last modified by (D)
Display Only Selected Categories
- Hide or display individual categories by clicking on the category bar (A)
- Choose which categories to display by clicking on the category arrow (B)
- Sort variables by category (C)
Hide Categories (and Included Variables) from the Variables List Page
- Click on Categories
- Click on Manage Categories (A)
- On the category list page, edit the category you wish to hide (B)
- On the edit dialog (C), check the box for "Hidden"
- Click OK to confirm
