2017.01.01 - Release Notes - 221 (v4.0.0)

Below are the Release Notes for version: 221 (v4.0.0)

New Features

  • Questions can now be added to a reusable question library, directly from the SAT. This library can be managed and shared at the client level, from the Dashboard.
  • Ability to have independent survey status by sample source. Moving downloading and uploading of content files (translations) to the "Locales" card. Locales can now be assigned to a sample source to generate a link for them, reducing unused link listing
  • Allowing exclusion of overall quota. Question and variable exclusion now works regardless of termination page.
  • New concept looping interface. At the section level settings, there's now the ability to automatically generate a loop
  • The dashboard and launchpad now remember specific settings for each user, to improve the overall user experience.
    • Launch Pad: Sorting and Filtering.
    • Dashboard: tab Choice: allowing to pick the default tab to load when you visit a project inside of the ADMIN tab
  • For client integrations, a new NodeJS SDK was developed to easily interact with our respondent data API.
  • The data download layout tool now allows customization of the System Variables as if they were the same as any other data point.
  • New "logic block" page type has been added to the SAT. This is an empty page that only contains logic blocks. Format is improved to allow for moving pages and blocks. Also added the following abilities to the SAT's left navigation menu:
    • Collapse sections.
    • Drag to sort sections.
    • New icons and colors for new page types.
  • In the SAT, added a centralized button to close all the cards in the editor window under the workspace display options sliding menu.
  • In the SAT's sliding menu, we've added some quick links for the Codebook, test survey link, and dashboard.
  • The data download layout tool now allows data layouts to be saved as a new copy instead of only overwriting.
  • New single card view functionality for the SAT's workspace. The option can now be found under the workspace display options sliding menu.

Enhancements

  • The SAT's initial load time has been greatly improved. The following actions were taken:
    • Only displaying a maximum of 10 responses in a response list initially, providing a way to "Show more"(the next 10) and to "Show all"
    • Provided a way to search for a given response by value or text.
    • Created a response "Bulk edit" form, which allows the user to make changes to a large response list more efficiently.
    • SAT's performance degradation over time has also been addressed
  • Changed drop-downs for language & country in the locale card to autocomplete fields for easier selection
  • Back-end code structure improvements to improve survey delivery speed by up to 70%. These changes will also allow greater stability for future releases, and potential delivery customization offerings (question level templates).
  • Several changes to improve launchpad and dashboard experience and theme consistency. Some highlights are:
    • Launchpad:
      • Survey creation date is now included in the displayed fields.
      • Can now search by survey token (found in any survey's link).
    • Dashboard:
      • Device type count was added to the statistics.
  • For the Codebook, the require response setting, when set in the response defaults at the question level, was easily mistaken for the question-level response required setting. The settings have been renamed to avoid confusion
  • Modified the default SAT editor layout to be single column view.
  • Translation files are now Excel files, with better encoding support. This also makes the process for downloading and re-uploading more streamlined. Text in the codebook preview's mode can also now be selected
  • In the Data Download tools, the following improvements where made:
    • Edit sidebar is now always visible so checkboxes don’t jump around.
    • Renamed Alt name to “Alternate Variable Name” and alt label to “Alternate Variable Label” for clarity.
    • Then creating a new layout, the tool now starts with no data points included.
  • In all  Downloads, any close end will now be ASCII zero padded.
    • Important Note: this affects any newly generated file, regardless of it being an old project.
  • Defaulted all new downloads to have CID as the name of the respondent ID.
  • The following improvements to the translation process were made:
    • Reduced duplication of content by grouping based on exact matches.
    • Added a column for referencing the first 5 questions/variables using this content.
    • Content is now sorted according to survey setup, with all variable content at the end.
  • In the SAT's left navigation menu, some text changes were made for clarity
    • "Add question" in pages was modified to "Add question (this page)".
    • "Add question", the main blue button at the bottom, was modified to "Add question (new page)".
    • The "Add page" was modified to "Add page (last section)".

Bug Fixes

  • Survey Codebook would stop rendering if an invalid page logic definition was found.
  • From the SAT, prevented the user from selecting a negative total count when automatically generating responses in a response list.
  • After first creating multi-cell questions in a grid, and then re-numbering them, the changes would not be reflected in the view the card was closed and re-opened (The data did save correctly).
  • After pasting into a field that is an inline editor component, undo functionality wouldn't work
  • In the SAT, when opening the new term code dialog and focusing the name field, the label was cut off at the top.
  • In the SAT, when merging cells that are all a part of a row/column header, the display of the headers would get shifted incorrectly.
  • If the Enter key was pressed in a name/value field, it would generate a new line which was hard to delete.
  • Improved quota performance on the dashboard to help lower loading times, since larger surveys could result in an unresponsive script warning.
  • In concept logic definition, referenced variable names were not appearing.
  • The client's autocomplete drop-down in the dashboard would sometimes not filter correctly as the user was typing.
  • The template for the running total for a grid question wouldn't get printed out if the cell's layout was set to anything other than the default.
  • When a respondent supplied a string with a single quote, and if the survey was navigated backwards, the text input would not display all the content.
  • Drop-down subquestions in grids would sometimes be incorrectly counted as having a response when they were empty.
  • When a question-level setting was set to "0", the error message would sometimes display an empty string instead.
  • When having an other/specify with input validation, the validation was always running even if the other specify wasn't selected.
  • Some mobile browsers would add a blue selection overlay to tapped inputs. This change forces them to not add this overlay and instead use the survey defined styles.
  • In drag drop bucket questions, if a drag item's "required" setting was disabled, it was not honored as such when generating test data.
  • For drag/drop scale questions, the range headers setting interface did not allow users to easily see/modify the range values.
  • In page randomization, when re-using order from another page, the label for the page was incorrectly displaying the position within the section, not the page's overall position within the survey.
  • When first displaying a data download template (or after sorting), the displayed widths and start/end values were out of order.
  • When question randomization settings were open, the list of open-ended variables to choose from for the order was not always correct.
  • In the data download layout tool, the interface alignment for alt name and label fields was off. Some variable names would sometimes appear replicated. SPSS right alignment was showing up as centered on the actual download.
  • On the new concept balancing screen, variables with no response list would not appear.
