Fielding Stats

This article explains the details included on the 'Fielding Stats' on the 'Survey Dashboard'


The 'Fielding Stats' section of the 'Survey Dashboard' allows you to get a snapshot of what is happening while your survey is in field. It will provide valuable information such as: 

  • Counts for completes, terms, in process etc.
  • Times to complete
  • Incidence


There are a number of filters available to narrow down the information available on the 'Fielding Stats' section. They are located at the top of the page.

  1. Respondent Type: This is the default for the 'Respondent Type'. Options include: 
    • ALL
    • LIVE (default)
    • TEST
  2. Sample Sources: This is a conditional list based on the 'Sample Sources' setup
  3. Survey Status: Respondent status
    • In process
    • Complete
    • Terminated
  4. Locales: A conditional list of locales programmed
  5. Date Range: Time frame you want to review
    • Any time (default)
    • Past week
    • Past month
    • Since the beginning of the quarter
    • Custom date range
  6. All Questions/Variables: Conditional list based on the questions and variables programmed in the survey


The 'Totals' section provides a list of counts based on 'Survey Status'. Its contains:

  • Starts:  Any respondent that has clicked into the survey.
  • In-Process:  Any respondent currently taking the survey.
  • Abandons:  Any respondent that has started, but has not finished and is not In-Process.
  • Terminates:  Any respondent that did not qualify for a specified reason and was intentially terminated.
  • Completes:  Any respondent that qualified and completed all required questions.
  • Incidence Calculation: The rate of occurrence of respondents participating in the survey.  Using the checkboxes provided, you may add exclusions to points not wanted to be included in the incidence.  You can mouse over the incidence value to see the formula calculating the incidence.

Incidence Calculation

Should you need to update or control the 'Current Incidence' calculation: 

  1. Click on the 'Incidence Settings' on the top right 

  2. The 'Incidence Settings' will appear. Here you can click on any item to have it EXCLUDED from the calculation. By default, the 'Excluded Over Quota Respondents' are all selected. 

  3. Click on the 'Save' button at the bottom of the screen when you are done OR click cancel. 

  4. The calculation will then be updated in the 'Totals' section

Response Times

This section will provide data tied to how long it is taking for respondents to complete the survey. 

To make this section conditional, follow the instructions below: 

  1. Click on the gear icon in the same heading as the 'Response Times' 

  2. The window that appears will allow you to modify the ranges. They are comma delimited ranges. 

    • Range Breaks:  Use a comma separated list of options.  Utilize the dash for specifying a set category with high and low value, or the + sign to signify any value after the stated value.  In this example:  0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-30, 31+, producing 6 category groups.
      • This must be a comma delimited list
      • You can use 'm' for minutes and 's' for seconds
    • Outliers Low:  Set the bottom value to evaluate in mean and median.
    • Outliers High:  Set the highest value to evaluate in mean and median.
  3. Click 'Update' when you are done


Click on the 'Browsers' link to view a chart with totals  of those browsers used


Click on the 'Devices' link to view a chart with totals  of those browsers used
